Complex image kaleidoscope by don doak. From our collection is this illusionary kaleidoscope by don doak, master kaleidoscope artist and master of kaleidoscopic illusions. Thsi kaleidoscope is rare to find available. It's called starlit. The interior of this scope is a treat for the eyes. tI is a 3-dimensional image of a star dodecahedron a pointed 10 sided shape, each side consisting of a five-sided figure (pentagon). Each pentagon points out of hte dodecahedron.
It's a very complex image. The object case is of a liquid suspension containing lamp worked glass pieces. A surround of material highlights the edges of the image making it appear segmented so you can see the shape clearly. Please see the photos. The exterior is made of snow white glass with decorative silver soldering. The scope is wegde shaped. You can view the image inside with both eyes, making this a comfortable kaleidoscope ot view. The scope measures 5 x 8 x 10 inches and was made in 1997.
It is signed by the artist, don doak. Don holds a patent for this arrangement of mirrors in a kaleidoscope. This scope is in mint condition and has been cared for and dusted regularly. Please email with any questions. We've been collecting kaleidoscopes since 1994.
